Oklahoma is US state located in south central region. Oklahoma is 20th largest and the 28th most populous state in the US. The name of the state has been derived form two Choctaw Indian words. Okla means red and Humma means people and when combined together means “red people”. It was formed with the combination of Indian Territory and Oklahoma territory. It was the 46th state to enter into the union.  The state is growing at rapid pace and is among the most developing and fastest growing states in the entire US. Its major cities and metropolitan areas include Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Edmond Oklahoma

The state is major producer of natural gas and oil and was once described as the “oil capital of the world”. Almost 60% of all Oklahoma state residents live in metropolitan areas and Oklahoma City and Tulsa are its two largest cities. Both the cities serve as a financial hub for the state and contribute heavily to its progress. Both the cities have major investments in biotechnology, energy and telecommunication and rely heavily on these.  The state is prone to severe weather condition and most of the state lies in the “great plains” area.  The state sits on the confluence of 3 different cultural regions in the US. It was historic route for the cattle drives. It also served as a destination for the south settlers and was a sanctioned territory by the government for the native Indians. It is also a very conservative state and is part of the Bible belt. Oklahoma City is the largest city in the state and Edmond Oklahoma falls in its metropolitan area. Overall the population makes the Edmond the 6th largest city is the state.

The state also has more Native American languages speakers than any other state. The culture of the state is diverse but is placed in the south region by the US census Bureau. The state has a high rate of Scotch-Irish, German, Native American and English ancestry. The state is among the fastest growing states in the country and contributes heavily to the GDP of the country.  Its vas natural gas and oil manufacturing accounts of most of the energy sector in the US.  Apart from producing natural gas and oil the state has large investment in telecommunication and biotechnology.
